To foster a good bilateral relations a state and its agents need to adhere to the practices outlined in the convention.
Law of the Sea – Section 1: Legal status of territorial sea (12 nautical miles from baseline) and air space over territorial sea. Sovereignty extends to territorial sea and air space over territorial sea.
Part V Exclusive Economic Zones (200 nautical miles from baseline which the breath of the territorial is measured). States have sovereign rights for the purpose of exploring and exploiting, conserving and managing the natural resources.
To ensure its sea and air borders are safe a state needs to protect its borders via the use of state agencies in relation to the Law of the Sea.

Kyoto Protocol – limiting and reducing emissions of greenhouse gases.

To combat the threat of climate change a state needs to limit and reduce its emissions of greenhouse gases.
Directional and enabling statement about reducing greenhouse emission by 90% to 1990 levels.

Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts.
Targets: 13.2 Integrate climate change measures into national policies, strategies and planning

UN Convention on the Elimination of All forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) - undertake a series of measures to end discrimination against women in all forms.
To help eliminate all forms of discrimination against women
Directional and enabling statement about regulating the production and sale of gender discriminatory songs.

Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls.
Targets: 5.2 Eliminate all forms of violence against all women and girls in the public and private spheres, including trafficking and sexual and other types of exploitation
