Shaping the Future of Foreign Policy Education in PNG

The Department of PNG and International Studies at Divine Word University (DWU) is taking a crucial step toward strengthening PNG’s foreign policy expertise by developing a Postgraduate Program in Foreign Policy Analysis. This initiative aims to equip professionals with the necessary skills and knowledge to navigate the complexities of foreign policy review, formulation, and implementation in PNG’s evolving geopolitical landscape.

 Why This Program Matters

Foreign policy plays a pivotal role in shaping PNG’s international relations, economic partnerships, and security strategies. However, there is a growing need for specialized education and training to prepare the next generation of policymakers, diplomats, and international affairs experts. By developing this postgraduate program, DWU seeks to:

  • Bridge the gap between theory and practice in PNG’s foreign policy landscape.

  • Provide students and professionals with analytical tools to assess international relations.

  • Strengthen PNG’s capacity in diplomacy, trade negotiations, and security analysis.

A DHERST Requirement

This research and survey are also in line with the Department of Higher Education, Research, Science, and Technology (DHERST) requirements for program specification documents. There is a specific section that addresses market analysis, career opportunities, and stakeholder input, ensuring that the proposed postgraduate program is aligned with labour market needs and meets industry expectations.

Your Voice Matters – Participate in Our Survey

To ensure that the program meets the needs of students, academics, policymakers, and industry professionals, we are conducting a survey to gather insights from key stakeholders. If you are a student, academic, public servant, or private sector professional with an interest in foreign policy, we invite you to participate in the survey.

Who Can Participate?

We are seeking input from:

🔹 Students (Year 3 & 4) in PNG and abroad pursuing studies in international relations, political science, economics, and trade.
🔹 Academics and Researchers specializing in international studies, diplomacy, and security.
🔹 Public Servants involved in foreign policy, trade, security, or diplomacy.
🔹 Private Sector Professionals engaged in international business, trade, or investment.

How to Participate

The survey will take approximately 15-20 minutes, and your responses will be anonymous and confidential. Your input will help us design a relevant and impactful postgraduate program.
